AP Calculus BC exam score: 5; Proficient in all areas of high school math

Charlie Li has proven time and time again to be one of the most exceptional students I have had the pleasure of working with here at MTHS. I have the opportunity to work with Charlie as his Advisor during our after school study hall program “Study Hawks”. Charlie has been a tutor since his Sophomore year, and has been flourishing. He is consistently early, actively working hard, and ensuring his peers’ mathematical issues are extinguished. Mathematics and science can be one of the most difficult subjects for students, but Charlie is there to quell any worry. As Charlie is the most consistent, and most times the only tutor available for said subjects, students know if they need help, then they can find him after school at Study Hawks.
Charlie doesn’t stop tutoring after their question has been answered. He ensures that the student fully understands the content. If not, then he keeps going. Charlie has adapted teaching strategies into his tutoring, such as “I do, we do, you do”, as well as creating similar problems on the fly in order to round out his peers' understanding and create a worthwhile learning experience.
Charlie's dedication to his peers is outstanding. He either spends time at Study Hawks, or he is at one of the various clubs he is enrolled in. From Monday to Thursday, he is actively participating in extracurricular activities here at MTHS. He is well recognized amongst the staff here as well as praised for his work. I am certain whichever path Charlie decides to pursue he will persevere and trickle down success to his peers as he has done so many times here at MTHS.
