About Adam

I have recently graduated from the University of Cambridge as an economist, with a specialisation in Statistics and Econometrics and currently work in Data Science, using advanced statistical methods. I have prepared several university students to successfully accomplish their exam goals in Microeconomics and Econometrics.

My focus is on approaching learning from the students' perspective. By quickly interpreting a piece of lecture content or problem sheet, I can help in clearing up unclear sections to the point where they can implement the material confidently. I aim to give students the tools and knowledge with which they will thrive when doing their own studying.

I have 10 years of experience doing competition level mathematics, ranking in the top 10 of Hungary, winning multiple national math competitions. This gave me a very solid foundation for structuring problem solving, and giving precise solutions.

About the lesson

I can help in understanding a piece of lecture material, solving a problem sheet or preparing for an exam.

I use an iPad for a whiteboard during my teachings as it makes the process much more frictionless and collaborative.

Beyond the core undergraduate materials, my specialisation is in the following topics:

- Basic microeconomic concepts of utility/cost/profit optimisation, measuring consumer welfare, producer surplus, and logic of different equilibria
- Monopoly and imperfect competition; Comparative Advantage; Externalities; Public Goods.
- Industrial Organisation
- Second Best Theory - Asymmetric information
- Social Cost Benefit Analysis - interpersonal and inter-temporary analysis of investment projects
- Contracts, Education, Health - modelling and comparative statistics

ECONOMETRICS:
- The precise setup and analysis of standard (linear, multiple, binary) regression models
- Hypothesis testing
- Issues arising in standard regressions and their treatment: endogeneity, simultaneity, functional form misspecification, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, serial correlation
- The use of standard approaches (OLS, fixed effects, difference-in-differences, 2 stage least squares) and more advanced ones (GLS, Generalised method of moments, Dynamic panel data models)
