About Ricardo
I have trained other teachers (CPD), led maths departments, and led multi-academy extracurricular programmes, designing strategies that move students to a place of mastery. I know exactly where students usually trip up before you even make the mistake.

Most mathematics students find they hit a brick wall and feel overwhelmed, we call this cognitive overload. My goal is to fix that. In our sessions we will be using Cognitive Load Theory, to ensure that every new concept is introduced in a way that your brain can actually process and store. Developing step-by-step system for mathematical concepts.
My Typical Lesson:
The Confidence Boost (First 10 mins): We start by revisiting previous topics to ensure they are stored in the long-term memory
New Concept (10 mins): I will introduce you to a new topic, delving into the why before introducing the how.
Guided Practice (15 mins): Through modelling you will learn to tackle challenging problems. I’ll be there to catch small errors before they become habits.
Independent Mastery (25 mins): You take the lead. You’ll apply what we’ve just covered to real exam questions. You’ll finish the lesson not just understanding the topic, but knowing you can solve it under exam pressure.
Extension (If Time Allows): You always have a chance to excel at a topic and the relevant challenge will be ready for you at the end of the session if needed.
I specialise in helping students who are ready to step up their performance:
GCSE/iGCSE Students (Year 10-11): Aiming for Grades 7, 8, or 9 and wanting to build a rock-solid foundation for further study.
A-Level Mathematics Students (Year 12-13): Both Pure and Applied (Mechanics/Statistics) for all major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR).
The "Hit a Wall" Student: If you were good at maths before but are now finding the new content overwhelming, I will help you bridge that gap.
The Online Learner: If you want a professional, tech-integrated experience that feels even more effective than sitting in a classroom.
