About Leah
As a K-12 educator for the past decade, I have a wealth of experience to draw upon in determining a personal learning plan for each student. I have classroom experience teaching mathematics from 2nd grade through pre-calculus and tutoring experience from kindergarten through calc 1. With a bachelor's in computer science and a master's in education, I am uniquely qualified to help students build understanding and skills in mathematics.

Mathematics is too often taught in a vacuum. Students learn algorithms and are expected to replicate the procedure without knowing why the process works.
It is my firm belief that the why of mathematics is what makes it powerful. The why is what lets students make meaningful connections. The why brings beauty and true understanding. The why empowers students to be independent, to use what they've already learned to learn something new.
My students explore math concepts being taught in their regular classes in ways that help them build to conceptual understanding and procedural fluency. From basic concepts such as addition and enumeration to complex ones like trigonometry and statistics, I help students of all ages develop skills that lead to academic independence.

All-inclusive $50 (you tell me the topic, I will bring the practice problems, examples, sample test questions, etc.)
Standard tutoring $40 (you bring the problems from another teacher, and we work through them together to build understanding)
Standard tutoring half hour $25 (if you only have a bit of time, half hour sessions are available - online only)
