About Doriana

Ciao! I’m Dory. ️ I am a native Italian speaker, and I work daily between Italian and English in an international environment. I grew up bilingual, which allows me to offer you authentic, natural Italian, along with clear and practical support for English speakers.

Outside of teaching, I work in the film industry as a CG Character Artist. I am deeply passionate about art, music, cinema, photography, philosophy, and poetry. I also practice yoga and mindfulness, which heavily influence my calm, attentive, and encouraging approach to education.

My Experience & Professional Background
I bring solid, proven experience to our lessons, so you can feel completely confident in your progress:

Two years as an Italian Tutor at Bournemouth University, supporting students in developing their conversation, pronunciation, and comprehension.

Over a year of dedicated private tutoring and online teaching on Preply, helping students of various levels build their fluency.

Because I use both languages constantly, I understand the specific challenges English speakers face when learning Italian. I know how to explain concepts in a simple, patient, and personalized way. I am completely invested in your growth and look forward to being your number one supporter on your language journey!️

About the lesson

My Approach & Methodology
I believe that learning a language should be an exciting journey, not a chore. My lessons are highly interactive, dynamic, and structured to build your confidence from day one. I focus heavily on a practical approach, combining:

A Quick Grammar Warm-Up: We start each lesson with a brief, clear explanation of a grammatical concept, specifically tailored to how English speakers process Italian.

Practical Sentence Building: We immediately put that grammar into practice by creating real-life sentences together.

Interactive Games & Exercises: We use language games and dynamic activities designed to help you think faster in Italian and absorb vocabulary naturally.

Guided Conversation & Pronunciation: You will be speaking Italian right from the beginning in a relaxed, zero-pressure environment.

My Philosophy: Mistakes are Welcome!
I am incredibly patient, friendly, and encouraging. In my classes, every mistake is just a step closer to your goal. I create a warm, supportive space where you can experiment with the language, mess up, and grow without feeling self-conscious. I will be your number one supporter throughout your entire journey!

Lesson Length & Details
Typical Lesson Length: 60 minutes (can be adjusted based on your goals and schedule).

Format: Available globally online or in-person in the Byron Bay area.

Who These Lessons Are For
Because my material is fully personalized, I welcome all ages and proficiency levels: from absolute beginners taking their very first steps to advanced students looking to polish their fluency, comprehension, and pronunciation.

My Experience
I bring a wealth of practical teaching experience to our lessons. I spent two years working as an Italian tutor at Bournemouth University, and I have been actively doing private tutoring and teaching on Preply for more than a year.

Through these roles, I have specialized in supporting English-speaking students to develop their conversation, comprehension, and authentic pronunciation. Working daily in a high-level bilingual environment myself, I know exactly what challenges English speakers face and how to guide you step-by-step.

Whether you want to learn Italian for travel, family, work, or personal growth, I adapt every lesson to your unique personality and goals to make the experience both highly effective and genuinely enjoyable. Let’s start speaking Italian with confidence!
