About Alkisti

Γεια σας! My name is Alkisti and I am a certified teacher of Greek as a foreign language. I have over 7 years of experience of teaching Greek. I have a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Athens, an MLitt on Gothic Literature from the University of Stirling, and a Teaching Greek as a Foreign Language qualification from the Centre of Greek Language.
I have been teaching Modern Greek since 2018. I have worked with both children and adults that wanted to learn Greek for their work, to be able to communicate with family, or just because they were interested in the language.
I have also worked as an English teacher with learners of all ages when I was in Greece and successfully aided them in advancing in their studies of the English language.

About the lesson

When it comes to teaching, I believe that the most important thing is to take into account the wishes and needs of the student. Everyone has a different approach to learning, so I will always adapt my teaching style to what would better suit each learner. Each lesson will be tailored to your needs and goals and reflect real-life communications (no more pink avocadoes).

Alkisti is a wonderful tutor, calm, patient, and always supportive. She creates a relaxed environment that makes learning feel approachable and enjoyable. Her background in English really helps her explain things clearly, especially for anyone who isn’t entirely confident with learning Greek.

She genuinely cares about her students and takes the time to ensure they feel comfortable and understood. I couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Alkisti has been teaching me Greek for over three years now and she has been the best tutor I have ever had.

I have always struggled with learning new languages, and even when I get frustrated with myself Alkisti has the patience and knowledge to get me back on track quickly and easily. She takes note of how I learn and caters our lessons appropriately, making sure to take an approach that is most likely to gel with me. Her supportive and friendly demeanour has taken a lot of the nervousness out of learning a new langauge for me, and really heped to build my confidence.

Honestly, I can't recomment Alkisti enough. She's an excellent teacher and will give you the very best help in learning what can be a bit of a tricky language to get to grips with.

Ευχαριστω Αλκιστη!
