About Katy
I am a Chemistry Tutor with 7 years experience as a qualified teacher in the Secondary School state system within the UK, a private International School (Brighton College Abu Dhabi), and currently an A Level College on a long term supply contract. I have 4 years experience as an expert examiner, marking A Level Chemistry exam papers for Edexcel and 2 years private tutoring experience. I hold a full DBS certificate and have my own transport.
I have mostly taught and worked for the Edexcel A Level exam board, but I currently work in an A Level college teaching the AQA course, and have tutored students studying the AQA syllabus for the past two years so am confident with both A Level exam boards. I am very familiar with AQA GCSE Science, and can cover all three science disciplines to GCSE level. In addition I can offer general science tuition for the Common Entrance Examinations.
I studied Biomedical Science at Edinburgh University, before completing my PGCE. I loved the first school I worked in, and alongside teaching KS3/GCSE Science and A Level Chemistry I ran many extra curricular activities such as Ten Tors and World Challenge. After 4 years I decided that a new challenge was in order and moved abroad to work in an International School; Brighton College Abu Dhabi. Since returning home to the UK, I have been working as a supply teacher in order to channel more energy into A Level teaching and building up my tutoring business as these areas are where my passion lies.
