About Silokini
I am currently studying a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honors) at the University of Newcastle and have been working as an online mathematics tutor since July 2026. Mathematics has always been a subject I find interesting, particularly the way different concepts connect and can be applied to solve real-world problems.
I enjoy tutoring because I find it rewarding to share this interest with students and help make topics that initially seem difficult or confusing more approachable. It is particularly satisfying to see a student understand a concept they previously struggled with and become more confident in solving problems independently.
As a tutor, I am patient, approachable and encouraging. I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, while helping them develop a stronger understanding and appreciation of mathematics.

My lessons are focused on helping students understand mathematical concepts rather than simply memorising formulas and methods. I break problems down into clear, manageable steps and adapt my explanations to suit each student’s individual learning style and confidence level.
Lessons are generally one hour and can be tailored towards current schoolwork, homework, exam preparation or topics where additional support is needed. During online lessons, I use an iPad and Goodnotes to visually work through questions, allowing students to clearly follow each step of the solution.
I tutor primary and high school mathematics and aim to create a patient and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their problem-solving skills.
