About Jordyn

I'm a passionate music educator with a Bachelor's degree in Music Performance and 20 years of experience teaching cello, piano, guitar, and voice. I began my career as a middle school orchestra, chorus, and general music teacher - earning HEART Teacher of the Year as a first-year educator - and have since continued to teach privately, perform, and serve as a worship director. My lessons are student-centered, creatively structured, and tailored to each learner’s goals, whether you're a beginner or preparing for advanced auditions. I specialize in developing strong technique, musicality, and confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.

About the lesson

I emphasize solid foundational technique, including proper posture, bow hold, and left-hand shape, from the very first lesson to prevent bad habits and ensure long-term success.

I tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style, interests, and goals—whether preparing for auditions, developing musicianship, or simply enjoying music-making.

My teaching integrates music theory, ear training, and sight-reading into performance practice, helping students become well-rounded musicians.

My structured curriculum includes weekly practice plans, regular performance opportunities, and progress assessments.

I believe learning the cello should be fun and rewarding. I incorporate storytelling, movement, and analogies to make abstract concepts accessible.

Building a positive teacher-student relationship is central to my teaching. I foster a safe, encouraging space where students feel heard and empowered.
