About Hallie

I am a Chemistry tutor with more than 3 years of tutoring and laboratory support experience, supported by an MSc in Medicinal and Biological Chemistry. My teaching focus is analytical chemistry, and I specialize in guiding students through instrumental techniques and interpretation methods. I enjoy teaching chromatography, including liquid and gas chromatography, where students learn how to understand stationary phases, mobile phases, and sample polarity. Spectroscopy is another area I love to explore with learners, particularly IR, NMR, and UV–Vis, because these tools unlock structural clues that become incredibly satisfying to decode. Titrations are also part of my teaching area, both theoretical and practical, and I help students master the skills needed to reach precise endpoints with minimal error. My approach includes strong emphasis on experimental design, teaching learners to plan their work with intention and clarity. I help them build hypotheses, select reagents, and develop step-by-step methods that reduce mistakes. Data analysis is a major part of my sessions, and I guide students through interpreting results, analyzing calibration curves, determining uncertainty, and recognizing sources of error. I also support students preparing for careers in research or quality assurance roles. This includes documentation practices, understanding specifications, and ensuring reliable, repeatable data. Working with chemistry lab students is especially rewarding because I enjoy strengthening their confidence in real-world techniques. For me, chemical measurement and analysis are forms of art, and I love teaching students how rewarding precise experimental outcomes can feel. There is true joy in data that makes sense.

The methodology emphasizes structured learning and analytical review. Core subjects include macromolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids, as well as metabolic pathways and enzyme kinetics. Lessons are built around case studies that highlight real-world biological applications. Students learn to dissect chemical processes in cellular systems and connect molecular structure to function. Interactive sessions guide learners through enzymatic reactions, substrate specificity, and metabolic control points. Zoologists and botanists benefit from examples that link chemical principles to organismal biology. Analytical review sessions identify areas of difficulty and reinforce key concepts. Lessons are designed to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Learners are encouraged to evaluate pathways, predict reaction outcomes, and interpret experimental results. Feedback is personalized to help students improve understanding and exam performance. By combining deep theoretical insight with practical examples, students gain mastery over complex biochemical topics. The approach ensures clarity, confidence, and academic excellence in biological chemistry. Students leave sessions with a refined understanding of chemical processes that govern life. Learning becomes structured, meaningful, and deeply rewarding.
