About Patrick
I have a degree in Biology and a Masters in Biotechnology for Health Sciences. I was part of the Functional Genomics and Proteomics Unit, of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Food of the New Generation Computer Systems group. I got a 20/20 rating in the final master's dissertation with the theme: (Metagenomic Evaluation of the Hydrogenome of Natural Mineral Waters (Northern Portugal) and Thermal Waters (Region of Galicia, Spain).
In 2018 I started my PhD in Comparative Molecular Genetics and in 2019 I worked at Als-Controlvet as a laboratory technician in the field of molecular biology (Next-Generation-Sequening, Qubit quantification, PCR, DNA extraction...) In 2020 I started my PhD in Biosystems Engineering and I am a researcher at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (CIMO - Mountain Research Center).
I am particularly interested in the areas of Molecular Biology, Genomics, Metagenomics (Hydrogenome), Biology Teaching, Next Generation Sequencing (Illumina ; Ion Torrent, Nanopre), Bioinformatics, Astrobiology, Biochemistry and Water and Olive Oil Analysis, GS-MS and HPLC .
