About Ali
I am a dental graduate currently studying for a Master’s in Public Health at Newcastle University. My interest in Biology has developed significantly throughout my education and career, but interestingly, I was not always good at the subject. When I was around 14–15 years old, during what would be roughly equivalent to Year 10 in the UK, I barely passed my Biology examination.
That experience has stayed with me because I understand what it feels like to struggle with a subject and feel that you are simply not good at it. Over time, I found better ways to learn and understand Biology, rather than relying only on memorisation. I went on to study dentistry and develop a strong understanding of biology and health sciences.
This is one of the main reasons I want to teach. I want to help students who find Biology difficult and show them that struggling with a subject does not mean they cannot become good at it.

My approach as a tutor is friendly, patient and supportive. I aim to understand each student’s individual needs and adapt my teaching style accordingly. I encourage students to ask questions, build confidence and develop a clear understanding of the subject rather than simply memorising information.
