About Saira
Reflecting on my educational experiences, I appreciate the phenomenal impact that teachers have on the lives of young people. I understand that teachers are the ones that shape young peoples’ lives by providing them with invaluable skills and experiences. Therefore, as a teacher, my greatest aim is to motivate young people towards success by being a role model. I want to motivate, model and inspire young people so they gain the knowledge to look at the world critically and develop strong beliefs to make positive contributions to society.
My PhD degree has helped me to develop resilience and cogency skills. Throughout my PhD journey, I have been dealing with difficult and challenging feedback, finding relevant literature and resources and grappling with complexity in research. I have strived to overcome barriers and continued to progress and maintain motivation. I have developed the ability to clearly articulate my ideas, in person and in writing by writing compelling abstracts and introductions which hook the readers and make them want to invest their time in my work. I feel these skills are important because I am able to display emotional strength and professionalism in any challenging role.
My Undergraduate Degree and Master's degree in Psychology has given me a broad knowledge about the behaviour, language and mental development of young people. Psychology has taught me about individual differences that every person has different mental abilities and learns at a different pace. This general understanding is important for teaching. I can apply techniques that I have learnt while working with young people such as finding materials that reflect young peoples’ interests, using activities that challenge young people and encouraging collaborative learning where young people develop in areas beyond academic success.
