About Robbie

Hey there!

I am a Northerner originally from Merseyside, living in london after graduating from Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2018.

I predominantly began working on Stage, starring first in an internationally touring production of The Grand Tour as the Narrator, accompanied by a 10 piece band, beginning in the heart of London at St John Smiths Square, before touring around the UK.

I then was as the lead of ‘Horseshoes for Hand-grenades’ in their debut production, for which I was nominated for best actor. I also won an award for best lead in a Short Film in 2019, for my role as Toby in ‘Toby’s Song’, which was my first professional on-screen role.
I currently have finished filming for a feature film set to release later in 2024, and am creating a stage production set to be performed by the end of the year.

If you’re like me, you are obsessed with finding the most efficient way to create a performance. Throughout and after Drama School I have constantly been studying acting, behavioural science, screen and stage performance, mindfulness and philosophy, and fitness. All in an effort to understand the many approaches one can take to a performance.

I want to meet you where you are, and help you refine your own tools whilst giving you any new ones you might benefit from. My intentions are to build your confidence, yes, but further to that, to build your ownership of your craft, so that no matter how prepared you are, you know how to step into any situation and give the most you can to your audience, whether that be in the theatre, on set, or in the audition room.

About the lesson

Firstly, I aim to respond to any requests within 24 hours of receiving them! Then things will work as follows:

* Upon booking, you get access to a free 45-minute session. I plan to use this to get to know you, and talk about your goals. I can then meet you where you are at and tailor the session specifically to you.
(Before the session, take time to gather any materials you will want to bring, like audition texts, or questions you may have. I’ll give you an email to send them to so I can prep my approach to them in our 1-hour session.)

*The style of sessions I offer can be broken down into: 1. Drama School auditions, or, 2. Self Tape / in the room auditions.

1. Drama School Auditions
- I can help you find a modern / Classical text that both speaks to you, and also is relatable to you. This way we’ll be able to make the most of them.
- I will work with you to break down these texts, providing tools you may not be familiar with as well as consolidating tools you already bring to your process currently.
- I will give you vocal and breathing tips and tools to open up your vocal expression and connect yourself emotionally with the text.
- I will mentor your mindset: understanding that auditions are at their core about showing who you are, which is the purest form of performance: self expression. I will give you some mindset tools to help you approach your process in the way most helpful to you, without trying to change who you are in any way.
- Create the right environment for performance: our behavioural state is governed massively by our environment and how we process them. I can offer both knowledge on how environmental factors change your state, as well as tools to help you biologically change your inner state to a more neutral and mailable one, with the intention of then placing your attention on the audition and processing the right elements of the environment that reflect back through your creative self-expression.

2. Self Tape / In the Room Auditions
- We will establish the context for the audition and see what we can use to our advantage to stand out and put our best foot forward.
- We will break down the text and use your initial response as a starting point to begin developing a compelling performance that meets the intentions of the audition.
- We will practice the piece with varying approaches to get the most out of the text and create different choices.
- We will build confidence in your approach to the audition by talking through your mindset and considering what we can do to set you up for success!

*After any session I do I will write up any notes on what we did and what we found that I think you will find useful. I will also write up an ‘action plan’ for you to give you some form of structure as ultimately the goal is to make you autonomous in preparing for performances in the industry.

The best thing about acting tutoring is the ability to connect to other creatives and work together to streamline the processes of creating to keep us in the process of growing and expressing ourselves in ways that are most valuable to others. You will be tutoring me as much as I will tutor you, because we all have our own unique fingerprint that can present a lifetime of study to master. I hope regardless of who you find to work with you, that you continue to grow and evolve, breaking through barriers that bring you closer to your full potential, and hopefully give you the tools to pass down to the next generation of creatives!
