About Rick
I am a Drum & Percussion Teacher in the Roanoke & New River Valleys. I also do math tutoring and graphic design work. I have over 30 years experience in performance and education. I have BS in Mathematics (Virginia Tech class of 1995). I have successfully home-schooled two children while maintaining a full time drum education business, and the management/promotion for a rock band that has been consistently performing for over 30 years, and filling in with other music ensembles.

I prefer one on one teaching. I like to help the student figure out how they learn best, and then tailor the lessons to best fit their understanding and where they are presently in their own development. I try to tie the lesson in some way to a personal experience of the student whenever possible. My underlying intent is to help the student embrace learning for life, regardless of the subject matter at hand.
