About Abida

Hi, I’m Abida! I’m a Chemistry graduate from TU Dublin where I earned a Merit Grade 1 in my degree and I’m now completing my honours year.

Chemistry is my passion. For my final-year thesis I’m carrying out research at TU Dublin’s CREST centre on sol-gel coatings, and I’ve presented my work at a university poster event. I’m also a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Working in a real lab every day means I don’t just know the theory: I understand how chemistry works in practice and I love sharing that with students.

I sat the Leaving Cert in 2022, so I remember what it’s like and how much pressure it brings. I know the course and the exam format, and I can show you how to approach questions to pick up every mark.

Outside of science, I’ve spent several years in customer-facing roles, including working in a pharmacy, which has made me a confident patient and clear communicator.

I’m reliable, organised and genuinely invested in my students’ progress. My goal is simple: to help you understand chemistry, feel confident going into your exam and get the grade you’re aiming for!

About the lesson

I’m a TU Dublin Chemistry graduate in the final year of my honours degree and I tutor Leaving Cert Chemistry at Higher and Ordinary Level. I sat the Leaving Cert myself in 2022 so I know the course the pressure and exactly what examiners look for.

My approach: every student learns differently, so I start with a short chat and a quick check of where you’re at what you find hard and what grade you’re aiming for. From there, I build lessons around you, not a script.

How I teach:

I explain topics simply and step by step using everyday examples so the chemistry actually makes sense instead of just being memorised.
Lots of past exam paper practice so you learn how questions are worded and how marks are awarded.
Clear help with the mandatory experiments. I’ve spent years working in labs including a research project at TU Dublin’s CREST centre so I can explain the practicals from real experience.
Calculations (moles, concentrations, titrations) broken down into easy, repeatable methods.
Short summary notes and revision plans plus a few practice questions to do between lessons.

Lessons usually run for 1 hour, with 1.5-hour sessions available for exam revision. I teach online.

Who it’s for: 5th and 6th Year students taking Leaving Cert Chemistry, whether you’re struggling to keep up, aiming for a H1, or need a confidence boost before the exam. I’m patient, friendly and encouraging and I’m a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry
