About Benjamin
I am an early-stage researcher with an MChem degree who is currently writing up my PhD thesis in chemistry.
I have 3 published papers (with an additional 3 in preparation at present) and I have presented these published works at two international conferences (and 6 internal university conferences).
Over the course of my PhD I have supervised over 15 students in research projects, and demonstrated in undergraduate teaching labs for 3 years (where I also helped to develop a mark scheme for their reports that I believe is still in use now).
My primary experience for tutoring/teaching is through labratory demonstrations and theoretical tutorials for undergraduate students, and supervision for undergraduate/postgraduate students during research projects whilst I was studying for my PhD; I also tutored GCSE students during my A Levels. All other experience comes from my own learning at university.
Throughout my education, I've learned to value efficiency and effectiveness to complete the tasks and goals set for me, rather than being the perfectionist that I used to be (who wasted a lot of time on irrelevant details); I intend to apply this approach in my tutoring too, by providing you the knowledge and assistance that you personally need rather than wasting time teaching you things that you don't need.

My teaching will be highly specialised depending on your needs as a student, and we can agree on what approach to learning would work best for you before lessons begin; I am able to tutor all ages and levels of chemistry, and this will affect the methodology that I employ during lessons. One consistent theme in my teaching style would be the use of analogy, as relating new information to things you already know makes them much easier to retain!
For school levels, I can teach all aspects of chemistry (and all sciences at GCSE level), including relevant mathematics. I can also provide advice for those interested in progressing to higher education.
For college/university levels, I can also teach all aspects of chemistry, but my specialism is in physical chemistry so tutoring in that discipline would be at a higher quality than for all others.
I can also teach all relevant mathematics/statistics, and research skills for higher education, in addition to providing proofreading/guidance for writing presentations, reports, manuscripts, and theses up to a professional standard.
For adults or informal learning (I.e. not working towards a qualification) I can teach everything mentioned previously but put specific emphasis on the topics that you want to learn; this would enable me to teach areas outside of my professional expertise, as I could simply research your areas of interest whilst teaching you how to do the same in the future!
Due to not having access to a teaching laboratory, I can't easily teach practical skills (except on a purely theoretical basis) but I can teach you how to prepare and plan experiments, develop your research skills, and the use of relevant software to develop skills that are necessary in a professional setting (e.g. image software such as CorelDraw/photopaint or Photoshop for producing figures, or imageJ for image analysis, or Excel/Graphpad for data handling, et c.).

Details
Rates can be negotiated depending upon the qualification level and what you want: I.e. if you only want proofreading/advice on writing papers/reports, or tutoring on a specific topic, then that will be different from the listed price (which assumes tutoring for a course/module).
Also, I'm new to this and don't know if I'm severely under-charging, or if everyone else is over-charging, so my prices may change, haha.
