About Modou

I’m Modou, an Economics graduate from the University of Birmingham and a finance professional working in the energy and commodities sector. My career has allowed me to gain experience across consulting, investment management, and energy trading, giving me a strong understanding of how economics and finance apply in the real world. I’m passionate about helping students not only improve their grades but also truly understand how economic and financial concepts work in practice. Whether it’s explaining complex theories in simple terms or linking textbook ideas to real market events, I enjoy making learning clear, practical, and relevant. Outside of work, I’m an active learner and enjoy developing projects in real estate. My goal as a tutor is to create a supportive environment where students feel confident, motivated, and curious about the subjects they study.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is practical, structured, and tailored to each student’s goals. I believe that economics and finance are best learnt through real-world application, so I combine core theory with examples from current markets, business, and policy. My lessons focus on building genuine understanding rather than memorisation — helping students think analytically and confidently tackle exam questions or assignments. I typically start each class by reviewing key concepts, then move into interactive exercises and short case studies to apply what we’ve learnt. I use visual explanations, data-driven examples, and discussion-based learning to keep sessions engaging and relevant. Lessons usually last 60 to 90 minutes, depending on your preference and topic complexity. I hold a BSc in Economics from the University of Birmingham and currently work in the energy and commodities sector, with experience in consulting, investment, and risk analysis. This professional background allows me to bring a real-world perspective to academic topics. My lessons are designed for A-Level, university, and early-career students who want to strengthen their understanding of: Economics (Micro, Macro, and Applied) Finance and Investment Fundamentals Exam preparation and essay writing skills Whether you’re preparing for exams, improving grades, or looking to connect classroom learning with real-world business, my goal is to make each session insightful, supportive, and effective.
