Economics & Maths Tutor || MSc & BSc Economics (1st Class) - Economics tutor with Katharina

I have known Katharina during her two years’ work as Expenditure Analyst at the Ministry of Finance & Economic Management, in Vanuatu from 2014-2016.
Her dedication and willingness to work long hours to get the job done have made her a favourite team member for everyone on staff. All would run to her with questions and special projects and I am amazed at the ease with which Katharina can fulfil a variety of task. With her robust analytical skills, she even volunteer to do task outside her job description to proof read and edit colleagues’ financial analytical reports apart from writing her own, while at the same time meeting deadlines. She is an articulate individual with professional acumen and had excellent interpersonal skills among colleague peers and superiors alike. With the example she had set, she had made us new hires at that time felt grounded and supported.

I know Katharina in the capacity of a friend and a fellow economist. I first met Kathi seven years ago during our Masters in Economics where we were course mates. It was a challenging course for all of us, and I had the chance to witness first-hand Kathi’s tenaciousness and determination to truly understand the subject matter and to succeed – not simply in terms of grades, but in terms of true understanding. We worked together on a number of problem sets and I personally benefitted from Kathi’s contagious perseverance and motivation. Moreover, at times when I was stuck on a concept but she got it, she would always take the time to explain the concept to me from different angles until I finally grasped it – whether it was a mathematical or statistical problem, or a conceptual economics problem. She approaches the subject with energy and passion, and talks about it with humour and imagination. For these reasons, I have no doubt that she will make a great Economics and Mathematics tutor.

Katharina however possesses more than the minimum requirements as a tutor. I have witnessed her career development as a friend throughout the years since we graduated. She is not only a competent Economist, but one with a passion to give back to society. This is why she chose the path of a Development Economist, working both on the ground in a developing country and then at the UK government level. Her willingness to give back is also what drove her to then move into the social enterprise world to tackle homelessness in the UK. This is also the reason why she now wants to tutor students in her spare time – to dedicate her skills and knowledge to those who can most benefit from them. Kathi has approached each of these endeavours with a hundred percent of her energy and dedication, as I am sure he will with tutoring.
