About Kelvin
I’m a current Economics student at the University of Nottingham, one of the UK’s top universities, and I’m planning to pursue a Master’s in Finance. But my journey with learning, especially maths, hasn’t always been easy. When I started secondary school, I was placed in the lowest set for maths in Year 7. That early setback really affected my confidence and made me question my ability to learn. Over time, I realised that it wasn’t about being “bad at maths”; I just processed information differently from how it was being taught in class. Once I discovered how to learn in a way that worked for me, everything changed. I started making real progress, eventually achieving Grade 7s and above across my GCSEs, including a Grade 8 in maths. I then went on to complete A-Level Mathematics and now study a degree that includes demanding quantitative modules like econometrics. That experience taught me something powerful: the way we’re taught matters just as much as what we’re taught. This is what inspires me to tutor. I know what it’s like to struggle, to feel stuck, and to think you’re not a “maths person.” But I also know how transformative it can be when someone explains things in a way that clicks. I’ve been tutoring my sibling through their GCSEs, and I love helping students discover their own learning style and build confidence step by step. Whether you’re aiming for a top grade or just trying to feel less overwhelmed, I’m here to help you succeed in a way that makes sense to you.

I’ve been tutoring my sibling at GCSE level, which has given me firsthand experience understanding the challenges students face. Having progressed through all the grading levels myself, I know how important it is to adapt teaching methods to fit each student’s unique way of learning. Everyone processes information differently; some learn best through visuals, others through examples or step-by-step explanations. My approach is patient and flexible, focusing on building confidence and ensuring concepts are fully understood before moving on. Together, we’ll work at a pace that suits you, making maths both accessible and enjoyable.
