About Joe
I am a final-year Economics student at UCL, on track to achieve First Class Honours. I achieved A*A*A*A at A level in Maths, Further Maths, Economics and French, giving me a strong academic foundation across both quantitative and essay-based subjects.
I have over 300 hours of tutoring experience, supporting students across different abilities and helping them build confidence, exam technique and subject understanding. I have also taught groups of GCSE students at Nonsuch High School, which has strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt my teaching style to different learners.

I usually begin by identifying the student’s current level, areas of weakness and target grade, before building lessons around clear explanations, worked examples and exam-style practice.
I focus on making difficult concepts simple and intuitive, rather than encouraging students to memorise methods without understanding them. For quantitative subjects such as Maths and Economics, I break problems down step by step and then help students apply the same logic independently. For essay-based topics, I focus on structure, argument, evaluation and how to write answers that match the mark scheme.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although I am happy to offer longer sessions where appropriate, particularly close to exams. Lessons usually include a short recap, teaching of new material, guided practice, independent questions and feedback on mistakes.
