About Lorne
After graduating with a degree in Geography I decided to embark on a career in teaching. I have a real passion for the world around us and after teaching for 7 years, took a year out to study further by completing a Master's in Environmental Protection and Management. This meant for the last few years I not only got to teach Geography, but Environmental Science too! I've taken a bit of a career break to pursue interests in ecology and marine conservation, but I want to continue to share my enthusiasm for nature and help inspire the next generation.

I'm approachable and supportive, taking time to get to know students and offer lessons that meet your individual needs and help you achieve your goals. We all learn in different ways, so I use a variety of resources and techniques to encourage and motivate progress. Ranging from quizzing to lecturing, teaching is varied and designed to engage students with their learning. Lessons are flexible, but typically last for one hour and focus on course content, revision skills or exam technique. With 19 years' experience as a classroom teacher, I've tutored students on a one-to-one basis and online, and have over 10 years' experience as a Higher marker for the SQA. I can offer lessons for any age/level, but my greatest experience is preparing students for the Scottish Qualifications.
