About Katie
After I received my Bachelor’s of Education, I continued my studies and received a Master’s of Education in 2019. I taught as a virtual teacher (grades 1 and 3) for two years with OCDSB and taught a virtual Intensive Reading Program I’m the summers. My experience teaching virtually allowed me to gain extensive knowledge on how to use technology to engage students in their virtual learning experiences. While completing my Master’s, this was an area of focus for me - the integration of technology in education.
I frequently implement a variety of fun and engaging literacy and math activities to support student development.

Math can be challenging! Many students face anxiety around math activities and often the negative energy attached to the word “math” can act as a learning barrier for those students.
As a virtual teacher the last 2+ years, I learned how to engage students! My math lessons use engaging digital materials (that can be kept for additional practice) and fun math games. Students face less anxiety when they practice math concepts and skills in a positive and fun environment!
