About Catarina

I am a Portuguese graduate that faced the challenge of studying abroad. I achieved a first class honours degree in Engineering Business Management at the University of Warwick. Engineering is a course I am extremely passionate about, especially this specific course as it allows me to make the bridge between Business Studies & Economics with Mathematics & Physics, areas which I am most passionate about.

I have always studied in an international school and did English exams and, as such, I have experience in doing such exams. I am looking forward to share with the students certain characteristics I have acquired in the past couple of exam seasons: time management, planning and most importantly how to answer certain questions. Guiding people on what they should focus on in certain questions.

My friends tell me that I am good at simplifying certain concepts, making it easier for the students to understand and grasp a concept with greater facility. I am patient and friendly, I have worked with children before and believe that I can do a good job as a tutor.

I also enjoy organizing events such as Model United Nations (MUN's) and other activities for children. I am an extremely hands-on person which is one of the reasons why I chose Engineering, due to its practicality. I also enjoy surfing, playing the drums, the piano and dancing.

About the lesson

During the sessions, my aim is to simplify the learning of such subjects through the use of clear and simplified methods. Because some concepts are a bit complicated to understand I will use a variety of methods to ensure that the student has a clear and good understanding of what is required of him. Such methods include: recommendations of videos, books, diagrams and examples. The essential is that, at the end of the session, the student is able to have a clear understanding of what has been taught and/or clarified.

It would be preferable if, before the session, the student would send me a list of the topics they want to cover and/or any exercises he wants to solve. This way, it will allow me to have some time to prepare for the session ensuring that I am 100% comfortable with the matter.

Most importantly, I wish that the student is as comfortable with me as possible. Not ashamed to ask questions when necessary, I have been in their shoes before, and I am just here to help them achieve their best results. Moreover, because I deepened my knowledge on these subjects at university, I am in my comfort zone teaching these concepts.
