About Gerrilyn
Hi!
I am currently an Engineering student in Calgary who has completed the International Baccalaureate level study of Math, Chemistry, Biology, English, and History. Growing up, I have always been one to help people with their studies whether it be my siblings or schoolmates. As of recently, I have been a STEM tutor for a multitude of science and math-related courses at my school, helping individuals surpass learning obstacles and achieve a higher standard of excellence.
Though I myself prefer numbers and equations over letters and sentences, I understand that it is not the same for everyone. I'm here to help! To be good at a subject takes a lot more than hard work, discipline, and dedication. Although this is key to individual improvement, it is most important that the student has a well-crafted teacher who can explain a subject concretely. I am eager to offer different learning approaches to difficult subjects and help individuals grow in both analysis and interpretations of math and science.

By recognizing individual challenges and needs, the aim is to find academic solutions through a series of understanding and approaches.
Guided by the teacher's notes, a thorough re-run of each lesson will be completed so the student can be guided through challenging aspects of the topic. Following this, a multitude of practice questions will be completed, starting with guided solutions (helped by the tutor) and proceeding with individual worked examples. Lessons will be worked at in intervals of hardness based on the success of the student.
The lessons are aimed for students grades 8-11 who are struggling with concepts within the Alberta math and/or science curriculum and are eager to improve.
