About Rookie
I believe that no student is inherently 'bad' at any subject—it's all about finding the right approach. The right learning style or tailored explanation can unlock a whole new world of understanding and potential for each student.
I hold A Levels in Maths, Business, and Sociology, with grades AAA* respectively, and I'm currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science & Mathematics. These strong results reflect my deep understanding and dedication to these subjects. At GCSE level, I achieved grades ranging from 7 to 9 across my subjects. This background equips me to effectively support students preparing for their own exams, sharing strategies that helped me succeed.

My teaching approach emphasizes student-led learning, allowing you to take an active role in shaping each lesson. In our first session, we'll assess your current understanding to identify areas that need improvement. From there, we'll create a personalized plan that targets your weaknesses while also aligning with your interests and goals. Each lesson will adapt to your progress, ensuring a balance between reinforcing fundamental concepts and exploring topics you find engaging. This way, you stay in control of your learning journey while receiving the guidance needed to strengthen key skills.
I understand the challenges of traditional education & teaching methods and aim to incorporate a wide range of styles and methods that aim to stimulate understanding and retrieval in ways that those used at school may not, with these methods having helped me personally as well. This includes a bottom-up approach to learning content, where the very basics and foundations are laid first, with a heavy emphasis on why something is, rather than it being "just because".
To reinforce learning, I periodically assign exam-style questions for independent practice, helping you apply your knowledge and identify any gaps. Homework is always thoroughly reviewed in subsequent sessions, and you can also get help with any work you have been assigned at school.
I make it a priority to keep parents updated on their child's progress where applicable. I can also create summary videos or sheets to reassure parents that their child is receiving top-quality support.

I started a few sessions with Rookie a few months ago for a level maths.
