About Margarida

I was born and raised in Portugal, and so Portuguese is my native language. I have a MBMus and MPerf in classical music (1st class), and recently obtained an MSc in Psychology (1st class), within which I undertook Educational Psychology. I currently teach at Sistema Scotland, and organisation that uses music as a tool for social change. I have also taught music privately for 13 years, and you would be surprised of how many transferable skills there are between music and language learning. One really complements the other. Having lived and worked in 4 different countries I am also familiar with the process of learning a language myself. I have always found it tremendous fun. SEN students are encouraged to get in touch. I have experience in teaching children and adults.

About the lesson

I currently teach individual and small group lessons (up to 4). Sessions are planned and adjusted to individual goals/needs/ requirements and scheduled on a week by week basis, according to mutual availability. I often incorporate songs in my lessons as that is a great way for our brain to memorise the pronunciation of words. If you would like to join a small group class waiting list please message me with your level (ie. beginners) and nature of attendance (online vs in person in Glasgow). different prices pp apply to groups.

Deadly! I have recently began Portuguese lessons with Margarida, organised through Superprof and have been delighted with the experience.

Margarida contacted me and we agreed the best time for my weekly lessons to take place. She was very flexible and offered online or face to face. I preferred face to face and I have met Margarida weekly since then. We discussed the best way for me to learn and the purpose of my lessons. Margarida is patient and answers all of my questions. The lessons have been relevant and paced appropriately. She has also provided audio files to allow me to practice. Whilst I find the pronunciation difficult she has been super at going over the phrases I have struggled with. I am currently in Portugal, a place I have visited annually for the last 20 years and this is the first time I have been able to tune into the language and have a go at simple conversations. The response from the Portuguese people has been so positive and many have helped with my pronunciation.

A big thanks to Margarida for all of her help, I'm hoping to book more lessons and increase my vocabulary.
