About Zuzanna

Hi! My name is Zana, I have two black cats, and I like sailing and playing the guitar. In my free time, I like learning (I'm a nerd and I enjoy integrals) and I read everything I can get my hands on. I have been teaching for 3 years, both as a private tutor and as a volunteer in educational projects.

Who am I?
-At the age of 16, I moved to the UK on a full scholarship to a British boarding school, so I have experience in both the Polish and British education systems (I also passed the American SAT). This means that, despite my young age, I am familiar with various teaching styles and I try to combine them to adapt to you! (I also come from a family of teachers, so teaching is in my genes:P).
-I am a finalist of the Chemistry Olympiad and gold medalist of the British Chemistry and Maths Olympiads and I took my Chemistry A-level in Y12 getting an A*
- Studying at a British school means that I am practically bilingual and I can conduct classes in both Polish and English

About the lesson

As a gold medalist of the chemistry olympiad and an A* student (OCR A-level), I know how important it is to deeply understand the topic. Trust me, chemistry and maths make so much more sense when you feel them.

Making mistakes is often a crucial part of the learning process and we shouldn't be scared of it. I believe that it's the student who's the main character in the lesson, so after explaining the theoretical part I'm just there to support them in testing their ideas and solving problems. I believe in correcting student's mistakes by encouraging them to try a different method instead of spoon-feeding a ready solution. Ultimately it's them, who are sitting the exams, so self-confidence and independence are crucial.

My young age is my true advantage allowing me to form a personal connection with my tutees. I know the exam board and every little caveat of the mark scheme (especially OCR) through and through because I was taking my A-level only last year.

It was a pleasure to meet you! I think you should be happy with your maths (that's a good sign bc y13 content is a lot of calculations, which can be quite challenging for some). We will need to focus on your ionic equations and some mark scheme stuff (eg. colours)
