About Ella

My teaching philosophy is that alongside social and emotional growth, students should be provided with an exceptional education which encourages intellectual curiosity and ensures learning that lasts beyond their school days. Through teaching internationally, I am now more globally minded and has been able to further develop her teaching practice in a fascinating and diverse multicultural environment. I have vast experience teaching both students with SEN and EAL needs, and feels confident in my ability to differentiate to ensure that the needs of every child is met during her sessions.

I am a keen runner, and joined different running clubs in New York. I also love to travel and during my time in America I managed to visit 32 states, including Alaska and Hawaii.

About the lesson

I have been a Geography teacher for the past 7 years. I began my career completing the Teach First Graduate Scheme in a large state school in North-West London. I was promoted to Head of Geography in the fourth year of teaching at that same school. In this school I taught from Year 7 to Year 13 and taught the Edexcel GCSE and A-Level Syllabus. For the past three years I have been working at the British International School of New York as Head of Humanities. Here I taught both IB History and Geography in the Middle School and taught IGCSE Geography. I have privately tutored for many years, both in New York and in London. I have tutored a whole range of students from primary age to A-level students.

My lessons are usually 1 hour long and are structured into four parts. Initially students are gripped into a lesson with a starter activity. The second part of the lesson involves the teacher explaining a key concept. The first part of the lesson allows students to apply their knowledge more independently. A finally we finish a session through an activity that brings all the learning together from the session.
