About George
Hi, I'm George. I am a master's student at Southampton University studying MRes Wildlife Conservation. I have graduated with a first-class honours degree in BSc Biology & Marine Biology, as well as obtaining three A* grades in A Level Biology, Chemistry and History, and eight grade nine GCSEs including all core subjects. Furthermore, I have ample experience tutoring across a wide variety of age ranges and exam boards, so I am certain I will be able to adapt our sessions to work best for you. The most important thing a student can have during education is passion. As such, my primary aim is to facilitate you to become actively engaged and interested in our topics of study, as this has been shown time and time again to be one of the best methods of long-term memory retention. As a result of my achieving highly at all levels of education, I am confident that I will be able to share the knowledge and love I have for chemistry with you in a way that not only improves your attainment, but also provides you with the intellectual tools necessary to carve out a path for yourself when progressing to the next stage of your life. I am a sympathetic tutor who will be very invested in your success, and will endeavour to provide you with the best possible chance of success at GCSE and A Level.

First and foremost, I try and distil within my students the same passions for chemistry and biology as I have, since I've witnessed first-hand how this can dramatically improve their grades. My lessons thus include a lot of interactive engagement with the topics at hand, allowing you to see the real-world importance of what you are studying which has been proven to assist long-term memory. I also prefer to tackle broader topics first before focusing on the specifics, to ensure a solid bedrock for comprehension and memorisation. Additionally, having been a student myself I understand that learning is not always easy and self-confidence can often be the main obstacle to improvement. As such, I aim to be both understanding and reassuring so you may develop the skills you need to excel under exam conditions. Sessions are 90 minutes to two hours long, as I have found that this enables students to get to grips with the current topic and to conduct a brief quiz at the end to ensure memory retention. I understand that students lead busy lives, so the homework I set will be brief but highly efficient and appropriately challenging.
