About Kaushik

"I am Kaushik Narayanan, a Carnatic flute artist with over 10 years of experience, including performing as part of the band 'Avadhuthas' on various stages. My journey with the flute began at a young age, driven by a passion for the intricate rhythms and melodies of Carnatic music. Over the years, I have honed my skills in both traditional and contemporary styles, incorporating creativity and expression into my performances. Now, I am eager to pass on my knowledge, offering personalized lessons to help students master the flute, understand the depth of Carnatic music, and develop their own unique style

About the lesson

In my Carnatic flute classes, I offer personalized, step-by-step guidance to help students of all levels, from beginners to advanced, master this beautiful instrument. The lessons cover essential techniques such as fingering, breath control, and raga (melody) improvisation, while also delving into the nuances of Carnatic music theory. Whether you're looking to build a strong foundation or refine your performance skills, I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. Drawing from my 10+ years of experience as a performer with the band 'Avadhuthas,' I encourage students to explore creative expression while staying rooted in tradition. I offer a free demo class to give you a glimpse of my teaching style and approach. My goal is to help each student find their own voice through the flute, with flexible learning paths suited to individual goals and pace." This way, potential students will know they can experience your teaching before committing!

I have known Kaushik for around two and a half years. While I believe that all teachers should be good students at first, he is one of them. The only way any subject can be learnt and taught is through an open conversation between the student and the teacher. And the person who plays these roles can be interchanged. He always works to improve his skills and is a good teacher. As a teacher, his persistent, consistent practice to experiment and learn, and his inspiring ways of thinking are great assets to the teacher within. His dedication and commitment towards the duty makes him the perfect choice for any student.

My classes are designed to be flexible and personalized to each student’s needs. The pricing is based on an hourly rate, which covers personalized instruction, teaching materials such as notations and recordings, and any additional practice resources to help you progress. For students looking for in-person lessons, any costs associated with booking a classroom or studio space will be discussed beforehand. I also offer the convenience of online lessons, which can reduce the need for travel or venue fees. During our free demo class, we can discuss the best lesson plan for you, and I can provide a clear breakdown of fees based on your preferred frequency and duration of classes." This will help students understand your pricing structure and additional costs, if any, while keeping things flexible!
