About Marcie

As a Certified Teacher with a Master's Degree in Education and over 20 years of experience, I specialize in working with students of all ages to build lasting academic success. My background includes teaching both in the classroom, online, and one-on-one settings, as well as tutoring students in ESL, Reading, Writing, and Test Preparation. I have a proven track record of helping students achieve their goals whether it's mastering English, improving reading and writing skills, or preparing for critical exams.

About the lesson

Our first lesson will be about getting to know each other. I will ask my new students questions about their skill sets and current needs. I will hope to discover what their subject goals are and what areas they are particularly concerned about. We will then plan a strategy about how to proceed. I like to have my students involved in their sessions, so they know what to expect and what to prepare for. I do not neglect their current state of being. If the student is visibly distressed or distracted, I will approach their feelings. A person can't absorb information if they are anxious about something. I am compassionate and nurturing, which I find helps students relax and enjoy their session. I try to make their lessons fun!
