About Reiss
I have a first class degree with honours in Mathematics and Physics. I have 8 years of experience in physics, research, data analysis and software roles where I apply my mathematical knowledge to multiple subjects.
My career has also heavily involved Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning and Optimisation skills, and the coding ability to apply these skills to build models..

I ensure that general solutions to any problems are sought (no formula-plugging), as this allows for both for a comprehensive knowledge of the concepts being combined or developed and a proficient mathematical derivation and manipulation of formulae.
Once the concepts are well understood, I have the student apply their new knowledge to real-life scenarios, to ensure that the knowledge is not only theoretical, and that the student may better utilise their skills in industry.
For students that code, I put particular emphasis on applying the mathematical concepts learned by having the student demonstrate them in simulations (in python). It is also important to make code clean, readable and re-usable, the means to do which I will make clear.
In terms of Machine Learning, I will also make sure that the student understands the theory behind the algorithms, rather than being simply able to use packages that can perform the algorithms for them, as is so common.
I teach up to and including A-Level.
