About Helen

I have a proven track record of helping students towards their desired goals. I have been teaching since 2005 in a variety of contexts. Firstly, ESOL beginner and elementary classes. Following that, I taught general English classes from beginner to advanced levels. I then became interested in teaching English for Academic Purposes which I have been doing successfully in Liverpool since 2008. I spent time in the Middle East teaching English at various Secondary Schools as part of their government's drive to improve educational standards of their native citizens. I have also given one-to-one classes and supportive tutorial provision along side my main teaching jobs. I have many students who keep in contact with me long after they have achieved their grades! I love this aspect of my job - I am always learning myself!!!

About the lesson

I am a friendly, female English Teacher with extensive experience teaching English as a Foreign/Second language in a variety of different contexts. I teach all levels from beginner to advanced and have extensive experience in teaching English for Academic Skills and IELTS provision. My approach is friendly and personal and I particularly enjoy making students feel comfortable and confident in reaching their individual goals. I employ a variety of current teaching methodology and resources that I have built up over my years of teaching both in the UK and overseas, however, each lesson is tailored to each individual student and their personal needs. I have worked as an examiner and have recently received a distinction in a Master's in Applied Linguistics at the University of Liverpool.
