About Ann

Hello, I’m Anne, a dedicated and enthusiastic tutor currently studying at the University of Warwick. I have over three years of tutoring experience, supporting students at KS3, GCSE, and A-Level to improve their understanding, confidence, and exam performance.

Academically, I achieved A*A*A*A at A-Level, including A* in Maths and Further Maths, which has given me a strong foundation in analytical thinking and problem-solving. Having completed these exams relatively recently, I understand the demands of the current curriculum and the exam techniques required to succeed.

My own academic journey has also shaped my approach to teaching. While preparing for my GCSEs and A-Levels, I worked hard to overcome a language barrier, which strengthened my communication skills and taught me how to explain complex ideas clearly and effectively.

In addition, having ADHD has helped me develop strong organisational systems, structured learning methods, and effective study strategies. These experiences allow me to support students who may struggle with focus, organisation, or confidence in their studies. I aim to make lessons structured, engaging, and accessible so that every student can learn in a way that works best for them.

As a tutor, I pride myself on being patient, supportive, and results-oriented. My goal is not only to help students achieve higher grades, but also to build lasting confidence, strong analytical skills, and a genuine understanding of the subject.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach focuses on building strong understanding, confidence, and effective exam technique. I believe students perform best when complex topics are broken down into clear and manageable steps, allowing them to develop logical thinking and confidence in problem-solving.

In my lessons, I begin by identifying the student’s current level, strengths, and areas they find challenging. I then tailor each session to their specific needs. I explain key concepts clearly and guide students through worked examples before allowing them to practise independently with support and feedback.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and usually includes:
- Reviewing previous topics or homework
- Clear explanations of new concepts
- Guided practice with exam-style questions
- Tips on exam technique and avoiding common mistakes

I also use past paper questions and mark schemes to help students understand how examiners award marks and how to structure answers effectively.

I have over three years of tutoring experience, supporting over 20 students from KS3, GCSE, and A-Level to improve their understanding and exam performance. I achieved A*A*A*A at A-Level, including A* in Maths and Further Maths, and I am currently studying at the University of Warwick.

My lessons are suitable for students who want to:
- Strengthen their understanding of key topics
- Improve exam technique and confidence
- Work towards higher grades in GCSE or A-Level Maths

I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing the skills needed to succeed academically.
