About Emmy

I have always had a passion for music ever since I was about four years old. I am primarily self-taught. Amidst school, I put in so much time and effort into learning and understanding the secrets of guitar playing, and I want to make it easier for people like me with the passion but no opportunity. That's why my tutoring is online.

  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I first developed my passion for music at the age of the nine. I remember the climax of going to church as a kid then was when the choir starts singing. Then hearing songs from the likes of Asa, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and Tracy Chapman.
  • Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Well, i love listening to jazz, gospel and pop. My influences are Asa for jazz, hillsong for gospel, and Michael Jackson. I also love edsheerans music and songwriting
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

I wouldn't really say there's a course that my students will find difficult but while learning advanced guitar music theory to become a professional, most students find it difficult developing their own musicality. Music is an expression, we aim to express our hearts and thoughts through music and not professionalism. Just like language, a three year old learning to speak new words is not doing so to become a better or professional speaker but to be able to express himself more
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

For me,the most complicated instrument to master is the violin. Its basically  a fretless unlike a guitar. Its very easy to not hit the exact note or play the wrong note. It requires great precision.
  • What are your keys to success?

My keys to success are Passion, consistency and hardwork. If you lose passion for music or playing your instrument, the less time you spend practicing and that means you become inconsistent. Your passion is very important.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Three musicians I dream of meeting...
Edsheeran bascially because I admire is songwriting and musicality.
    Asa I love her sound.
Arethra Franklin, her voice is her instrument and I admire her, although she is no longer with us.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

While in school, I once auditioned into a music competition, and it was kind of hectic because I had classes from 8am till 4pm and then the competition was by 5pm. For one of the stages we were required to do a rendition of songs from a particular artist, and it wasn't an artist that I am a fan of and it was also a genre a rarely listen to. So I didn't really know his songs and I had to start learning the lyrics. I has just a day, and classes made it way less than a day. So I got up on stage, and the moment I started playing, I forgot every single lyric of the song. It was a very embarrassing moment for me, luckily I still made it to the finals of the show which I didn't attend due to health related issues.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

Well I have passions for two things, tutoring and Music. The rest is up to you, learn with me to find out.
