About Reaunna
I have a lot of experience with children, including my own as their homeschool teacher. Because of my varying life experiences, I’ve had the pleasure of working with children from all over the country in different ways. Whether it was as a preschool teacher at a military installation’s CDC, an afterschool program leader, or a classroom intern for various college degrees.
While my path never led me towards the culmination of all of that experience (having to exit my teaching credential program in 2020 right before graduating), I’ve been homeschooling my son ever since then using both the knowledge and wisdom I gained.

My lessons are simple and to-the-point. After establishing a reference point (e.g., a student is struggling with multiplication), we complete relevant example problems/activities together.
This may look like scaffolding targeted problems in succession one at a time, using analogous word stories/games to explain difficult concepts, and workshopping different ways to solve problems by working them out on the digital whiteboard together. Longer term, I can create a plan to reach whatever decided upon goals are set with the student, and refine that plan as we continue over time.
My goal is to figure out where a student may need support, and then address that need directly. This involves activities asking the student questions (explaining their “why’s”), and learning their general thought process based on how they go about solving problems with me. Sometimes, students just need someone to explain things to them in a way that sticks.
