About Jules

Hello, I'm Julie, a fully qualified secondary science teacher and Physics specialist based in the UK. I hold a BSc in Astronomy and an MSc in Astrophysics, and I have seven years of experience teaching science in secondary schools. I currently teach GCSE Combined Science, GCSE Physics and A-Level Physics, giving me an excellent understanding of the curriculum and the challenges students face at each stage.

In addition to my classroom teaching, I am an AQA A-Level Physics examiner. This provides valuable insight into how examination papers are marked and what distinguishes good answers from outstanding ones. I use this knowledge to help students develop not only a secure understanding of Physics but also the exam technique needed to maximise their marks.

Throughout my teaching career I have supported students of all abilities, from those who need to build confidence with the fundamentals to those aiming for the highest grades and competitive university courses. My lessons are patient, supportive and tailored to the individual, creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.

I am passionate about making Physics accessible and enjoyable, breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps. My goal is to help every student leave each lesson feeling more confident, more capable and better prepared for success in their examinations.

About the lesson

I believe the best learning happens when students genuinely understand the concepts rather than simply memorising facts or mark schemes. My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they are aiming to secure a pass, improve by a few grades, or achieve the highest GCSE or A-Level results.

As a qualified UK secondary science teacher with seven years of classroom experience, I have taught hundreds of students across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. I specialise in Physics but also teach GCSE Combined Science. Alongside my classroom teaching, I am an AQA A-Level Physics examiner, giving me detailed insight into how exam questions are assessed and what examiners look for in high-scoring answers.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although longer sessions can be arranged before exams if required. Each lesson begins with a short review of previous learning before introducing new content through clear explanations, worked examples and regular questioning to check understanding. Students are then supported as they apply their knowledge to exam-style questions, developing both confidence and effective exam technique.

I make extensive use of retrieval practice, spaced repetition and scaffolded questioning to strengthen long-term understanding. I also adapt my teaching style to suit each learner, whether they need help building confidence with the basics or stretching towards the highest grades. Students receive constructive feedback throughout each lesson so they know exactly what they have done well and what they need to improve.
