About Andrew
My career has been shaped by a lifelong commitment to learning, wellbeing and personal growth. With a background in sport, health, coaching and teaching, I’ve always believed that the habits we build — physically, mentally and academically — shape the adults we become. These principles guide the way I support young people in physics and science today.
I’ve taught across mainstream schools, SEN settings and pupil referral units, and this breadth of experience allows me to understand students as individuals — their strengths, their challenges and the way they make sense of the world. Physics can feel abstract or intimidating for many learners, so I focus on making it clear, relatable and genuinely accessible, no matter a student’s starting point.
As a qualified SENDCO and experienced science teacher, I specialise in supporting neurodivergent learners, including those with ADHD, ASD, anxiety or low confidence in STEM subjects. I bring a calm, structured and coaching-informed approach to every session, helping students build understanding step by step while developing the confidence and resilience that physics often demands.
Above all, I believe that science should empower young people to think critically, ask questions and understand the world around them. I love learning myself, and I aim to inspire students to enjoy the process, grow in confidence and feel proud of their progress — both in physics and beyond.

My physics lessons are designed to make complex ideas feel clear, manageable and genuinely interesting. I take time to understand how each student learns, what they already know, and where the gaps or misconceptions might be. Whether we’re working on forces, energy, electricity or the trickier parts of the GCSE course, I break concepts down into simple steps and build understanding gradually and confidently.
I specialise in supporting neurodivergent learners, including students with ADHD, ASD, anxiety or low confidence in science. My approach is calm, structured and flexible, adapting the pace and style of teaching to what helps the student feel safe, focused and capable. I use visual explanations, real-world examples and guided practice to help students make sense of the physics rather than memorising it.
Alongside the academic content, I help students develop the study skills that make physics easier: interpreting questions, understanding command words, approaching calculations methodically and recognising the patterns that exam boards use. For many students, this is where confidence really grows.
My sessions blend teaching with mentoring. I support students to build resilience, curiosity and a sense of achievement in a subject that can often feel intimidating. Above all, my lessons are personalised, encouraging and grounded in the belief that every student can understand physics with the right support.

Andrew has tutored our daughter who is home educated and on the spectrum for over a year. Due to her autism she finds social interaction difficult. Andrew has truly gained her trust and helped her to thrive and grow. An excellent teacher and very pleasant individual who feels like part of the family.
If you are looking for a professional, reliable role model and teacher who makes everything fun and interesting then Andrew will not disappoint. Could not recommend enough.
Jason and Claire PerryAndrew came into our lives at a very stressful time for our family. He’s been tutoring my son for over a year and has become a trusted adult and safe space for my child. He is patient and kind and brings humour to help ease any tension. He uses his knowledge of many years teaching to bring out the best in my child both academically and emotionally, he knows when to push him and when to pull back, he is very intuitive to his students needs. Andrew is more than a tutor, he brings wonderful pastoral care and we have been very lucky to be able to work with him.
