About Meghan

The Rose Actung Institute assists actors in finding their true voice and sharing it through story. With it’s teaching philosophy based in part Viola Spolin and part Sanford Meisner and wisdom through experience sprinkled in between. The Rose Acting Institute can help you find playfulness and live truthfully on stage.

I dreamt of being a theatre teacher as a young child. Always a sponge for everything theatre I have absorbed as much as I could and continue to train myself in new areas of methodology. After time and lessons learned in New York as an actress and casting assistant I found myself eager to return home and share my knowledge with my students.

I have a bachelor's degree in Musical Theatre from Northwestern State University. In 2016 I attained my MFA in Performance and Direction through the University of New Orleans. I have also studied Meisner and completed the Meisner Teacher Training Program in 2014 through the True Acting Institute. My other area of expertise is the Viola Spolin approach to acting and improvisation.

About the lesson

First I'll interview the student and see what their specific needs are, create individualized goals for each student, then the student and I will create a plan of how we'll achieve those goals. Lessons will be something they can look forward to and the student can follow their success through the achievement of those goals.

I have worked with students from kindergarten through the age of 80 when I adjunct taught at the University of New Orleans. My students have used the knowledge I've helped facilitate in every day life as well as making it on to the big screen with big names.

I always tell my students that they can learn a great deal by adding as much variety as they can to their acting tool box. Every teacher will offer new tools for the actor.

I also encourage them to know what their package is. Know what their gifts and support needs are - then to pursue classes and teachers that work with both their gifts and support needs.

Last year I directed Beauty and the Beast at my high school where I am based. The project was huge and at times, seemingly insurmountable. But, when the show opened tears flowed as we had not only achieved our goals but surpassed them a great deal. The audience reception was moving and the response was that of "I've never seen so much heart on stage!"

After that production the same students went to the lower school with me and taught the show to the Jr. High students.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I believe the student should jump in and be brutally honest about what they love about whatever their craft is and where they have struggled in the past. We have to know our weaknesses in order to make them strengths.
