About Theresa

I studied musical theatre at Syracuse University. I have performed as a professional actress for over 20 years, and in the DMV area for 5 years. I have been teaching acting, playwriting and creative drama to individuals and groups in both traditonal and non-traditional settings since 2000. I won the Helen Hayes Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical in 2013.

About the lesson

I always start with an initial discussion and interview. I want to be clear about where the student's strengths and weaknesses lie, what the goals are, and if I am the best fit to help the student reach those goals. If at the end of the assessment we decide to continue working together, we put together a lesson schedule.

I have worked with a wide variety of students:

--- 18 months (Mommy and Me drama) to 80 years.

--- students seeking a career in stage and film.

--- students whose main goals were to gain confidence and improve diction

---college students preparing for interviews

---even a minister seeking to improve his stage presence during sermons

Every lid is not for every pot. Acting is a creative and fun outlet, but can be emotional and extremely personal. It is important that you feel comfortable with your instructor, are honest about your goals and trust them to put those first.
