About Leslie

I'm an understanding teacher with an eclectic skill set, experienced in all facets of theatre and performance. I focus on the individual, pinpointing the client's goals and real needs, then honing in on techniques and skills that address and will help attain these goals. In other words - I've got a big bag of tricks, and there's no one method that's right for everyone, at every time, in every situation, so I give my students what they'll need to draw on in any performance situation. I've been involved in professional theatre since 1979, from off-Broadway, regional, comedy, drama, musicals, classics, Shakespeare, and new plays, improv theatre, film and TV.

Every person is different, and I love discovering with my students the special light in them, and watching them bring it out into the world and surprise themselves!

I've trained at many of the top schools, getting training in pretty much every major technique - Method, Meisner, Classical... - at American Conservatory Theatre, Walnut Street Theatre School, the Wilma Theatre School, Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre, Tracey Roberts School in LA, Screen Actors' Guild workshops, AFI workshops, and worked at Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Vineyard Theatre, Theatre for the New City, American Jewish Theatre, Philadelphia Theatre Caravan, and numerous regional productions. Film/video appearances most recently include Soon by You (Episode 5).

About the lesson

A conversation about their short- and long-term goals, followed by physical exercises, vocal warm-ups, improv exercises, and creating a plan to achieve their personal goals (this may include character development, script analysis, scene work, improv, emotional recall, working with a partner...)
