About Lisa

I have taught at the University of Hawaii, acting for camera, and independently have coached actors in New York and Los Angeles for major television, film and theatrical roles. I have won many acting awards for theatre - Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award (2 times); The LA Weekly Award; Po'okela Awards (Hawaii) (4 times - production, ensemble); Dramalogue Awards (3 times)

I love being able to communicate a very simple method of listening and responding. Acting is somewhat simple, when we get out of our own way. From the age of 14, theatre was the best thing that ever happened to me and I love helping others be able to express themselves through storytelling.

In the mid-90's, I had a friend who was auditioning for many television series and theatre roles who asked me to coach her. She would book many of these roles after we worked together. When I moved to Hawaii, I realized many of the actors there had not had a lot of training, so threw my glove in the ring.

I have a BFA in Theatre from University of Southern California; 1 year at acting/voice conservatory Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Santa Maria, California; I studied with renowned teacher, Stella Adler for three years.

I have taught at various venues in Hawaii - Ohana Arts (a summer program for 6-18 year olds); Univeristy of Hawaii (Acting for Film and Television); Hawaii Filmmakers Collective - (Acting for Film and Television). Also coached individuals personally in NY and LA. And I have appeared in over 25 television and films; Over 200 plays in New York, Los Angeles and around the country.
