Shayne Mims has been a huge help to me in my educational career. He has helped me through several auditions and generously given his time to help me. He has helped me realize many things about acting that I would have taken a long time to learn had I not had his perspective on theater work and character interpretation and embodiment. Working with Shayne has helped me through several auditions, most recently my being cast in my University production of the musical "Spring Awakening".
He has been kind, caring, and compassionate, whilst being direct and motivational. His direction as an instructor is informative and straightforward, yet done in a relatable and encouraging way. His tips are some that I will use for the rest of my musical theater career. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone that is fortunate enough to have his time.

I had the pleasure of taking theatre class with Shayne during my exchange semester at San Diego State from Vancouver, Canada. Shayne created a welcoming and warm environment where everyone was empowered to express themselves, grow and learn without judgement. He is so knowledgeable in the art of theatre and performance, and every week I found myself excited to get to class. From improvisation exercises, monologues and scenes, to text and screen analysis, I thoroughly enjoyed his class and took so much from it. Shayne truly has the ability to bring the best out of everyone, and he helped me build confidence in my ability and inspired me to get back into acting once I returned home to Vancouver. He believes in his students and after the semester it is safe to say everyone grew as performers and people. I cannot recommend taking class with Shayne enough, and I am so grateful for having had the chance to work with him.
