About Nicola
I am experienced in teaching absolute beginners as well as those with more years of practice, and I specialize in teaching SightReading for Actors at Auditions, as well as being the creator of the ICE ColdReading Method. Some of the things I will focus on include building a character, text analysis, intention, sense memory for accessing emotion, different acting methods and techniques, and audition/cold reading technique.
I teach with patience and kindness, and never use intimidation or humiliation. People thrive when in a nurturing environment where they feel safe to express themselves and take risks. I am able to adapt my teaching techniques to suit the individual, even in a group setting.
I trained in acting in London's West End, achieving 97% on my London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) course. I then went on to Cambridge, UK to achieve my degree in acting. I have been teaching and directing in the UK since 2005 and several of my students have gone on to win Best Actor/Actress awards. Before moving to LA, I ran my own theatre company in the UK called Imagine Theatre and directed 16 shows. I also won the NODA Best Play award for the first play I ever directed.
Here in the US I have studied comedy at Scott Sedita Acting Studio and Actors Comedy Studio and taken several other classes. I am currently the President of Culver City Public Theatre and in 2019 produced and directed "The Wonderful World of Dissocia" at the Fanatic Salon, and I am currently producing our Summer show. Preparations for producing the October show are also underway.
I love helping people come to their full potential. One of my students seemed to be absolutely terrified the first time she came for a class. I honestly thought I'd never see her again. Then she just kept coming week after week, for five years! She ended up winning a Best Actress award and plays the lead in many stage shows. I am most proud of her, I have to admit!
I started in 2005 in my hometown of King's Lynn, Norfolk, UK. I had 20 people in my adult class and 15 in my kids class. After a year I developed a theatre company to work alongside the classes so that the students had an outlet to practice their new skills.

Details
Classes are 60 minutes and can be done in person or via Zoom online conferencing.
The first one-on-one class is free. Thereafter it is $60 per class payable before the class begins via Venmo or Paypal.
