About Yazmin
Welcome to Arambula's Biology, Chemistry, & Spanish "ABC&S" Tutoring! I am a recent graduate from UC San Diego with a B.S. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. And, currently I am a student at UC San Francisco School of Pharmacy. During my undergraduate career, I worked as a lead college outreach ambassador with the Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP), which serves local middle school and high school students in the San Diego Unified School District. During 3 of my years working for EAOP, I tutored and mentored students directly on campus, and on zoom. I was also responsible for working with the professional staff on improving our current educational curriculum and developing new methods of helping our students succeed academically, to ultimately help them succeed in getting to their dream college. In short, my ultimate goal for my students is to help them hone in on their learning styles, and improve on retaining what they learn. Learning STEM is difficult, and so is another language - through my failures and my successes, I have found it is best to be patient and take one step at a time towards learning a difficult subject. I’ve been asked “Why tutoring?” a few times already since I graduated and for me it is always an easy answer, I enjoy helping others learn biology and chemistry - it’s super interesting to me and I find it personally rewarding when I help someone learn a subject I once struggled to understand myself. And, for Spanish - I simply love the language, it’s my native language. I have also received the California State Seal for Bilingual and Biliteracy for the English/Spanish languages, rest assured I can help anyone learn spanish and I'll try my best to share some fun cultural insights during the process.

My tutoring process revolves around 4 central components: knowledge, empathy, honesty, and humor. I was taught this process early on in my undergraduate career and it has proven to be successful in building connections with my students, and therefore allowing me to further cater my tutoring style to fit their needs. I try my best to help my students, therefore I will never give my students the answer to their problems. My job is be a guide towards the solution, simply pointing the student in the right direction but allowing them to connect the dots. This approach enables students to enhance their critical thinking skills, so that they will learn how to solve problems on their own and ultimately not need a tutor.
