About Chad

I was raised in rural Minnesota, I spent my youth as most kids do in that region; school, sports and jobs after school and in the summer. I spent my weekends on my grandfather's farm with my father. After graduating high school I attended NDSU in Fargo, ND. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, although this was not my initial plan. In 1994 I married my current wife and we headed to Utah where I earned a Phd. in Organic Chemistry. While the bulk of my Ph.D. was working in the lab; I spent a significant amount of my time teaching as a lecturer and more importantly working with undergraduates and graduate students in small groups of 1-20 individuals.

I have always enjoyed hard work, learning and helping people suceed.

In graduate school I spent time lecturing and as a TA (O.Chem). As a professional chemist teaching learning is an ongoing process.

I earned a B.S. in chemistry and a Ph.D in organic chemistry. As a practicing chemist I employed what I learned doing research in my bachelors, doctoral and industrial careers.

About the lesson

The most import indivual is the student. It is important to start the learning process correctly. The student needs to communicate as best they can where they are having difficulty. The tutor/teacher must listen to, and address the students needs. This initial dialog makes every step that follows much more manageable and successful.

Prior to that my primary experience was with undergraduate organic chemistry students as well mentoring my graduate peers. My children are, or have been in all stages of learning, currently middle school, high school and college. I can understand many perspectives.

Make sure your educational needs and your goals match that of your teacher's goals.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about the areas you struggle with the most and what you wish to accomplsh in the class. Remember the teacher is a guide; you need a partner in learning, both partners must be willing to work toward your goals.
