About Lee

After graduating Oxford with a BA in geography and an MSc in social anthropology, I started a job in London with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. This job involved monitoring economic and political events in sub-Saharan Africa with a focus on international development. I subsequently switched my focus to Central Asia, Russia and the Middle East with a stronger focus on the oil and gas industry and other extractive industries. This job allowed me to put my knowledge and skills as a geographer into practice. However, I had to leave this career for health reasons, but as my health improved I started offering tuition in geography. Being a private tutor has been very rewarding, seeing students meet and exceed their expectations and go on to have success in higher education.

About the lesson

I tailor my lessons and approach to the needs of the student. This can involve going through the course topics and explaining concepts to ensure they are fully understood, or it could focus on past paper questions and refining exam technique. My approach to lessons is heavily influenced by my experience of Oxford tutorials, with plenty of questions to prompt discussion of topics with students in order to develop critical thinking skills.
