About Mackenzie

I have worked in education for 7 years. I have experience with students of all ages, birth through adult, and have a passion for working with middle school students. I currently teach full time in an elementary and Middle school position teaching Social Studies, English, and Science. I also work with students who have exceptional learning needs and develop effective leanrning plans for them.

I have earned two degrees in education. My first was an Associate of Science in Education earned in 2014 from Century College. My second is a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies Education with a minor and emphasis in Psychology earned from the University of St. Thomas in 2018.

I have a full year of full time professional teaching expereince. I have 6 years of part-time professional teaching and tutoring experience.

I have worked with students from various background including students who are learning English as a second language.

I have, informally, been teaching my whole life. Teaching my 4 younger brothers everything from how to tie a shoe to how to read while we were growing up constitute many of my first expereinces with teaching. From there, I fell in love with teaching and have been doing it in some capacity ever since.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I spend time first getting to know them. I take time to understand what their personlaity is like and what their preferred learning styles are. Once I have a good idea of what the student is like, the student and I will start working on content.

I have worked with a wide variety of students. Currently I work with elementary and middle school students at an elite private school. Previously, I have worked with students in the public school systems of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

I recently went on a backcountry camping trip in Banff National Park. The trip was a crazy and exciting adventure!

I have some flexibility in lesson prices. $45/hour is standard, prices go up if I need to travel to the student.
