About Grace
I love teaching. My new position allows less time in the classroom, but I still want to do what I am passionate about. I have taught world history and geography. I am also well versed in government and American History. I am an extrovert who tells stories to help students become familiar with stubject material before deep diving into different interests and assignments. I am all about making history lessons applicable in real life.
I graduated college and went stright into the profession. I taught for a while before taking a positon in higher education. I fully intend to return to the classroom, but until then tutoring will help me keep up my skills as well has continue to connect with students.
I have a Bachelors from Purdue University in Social Studies Education. I have taught World History and Geography at the high school level.

I get to know the student and why they've come to see me. I then figure out which skills they'd like to work on, or skills that I notice they need improved. I work hard to connect the subject material to their interests.
I have worked primarily with 9th and 10th grade students. As a substiute teacher though, I have worked with all ages K-12.
Find someone who fits your learning style, and come into it with an open mind. Even if mom and dad are forcing you to get the tutoring, it has the chance of being kind of fun!
One of my favoirite lessons was my CIA cold war lessons. I had students pretend to be spies for the US government during the cold war. They looked into decolonization/independence movements and reported back whether or not it was an area of conern for the USA. Students loved coming up with code names and learning how to write history in a new format - a governement report.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What do you need help with? If you can articulate what you are strugging with (ex: understanding the directions, coming up with the idea for an assignment, connecting themes throughout history) it will save you a ton of frustration. It's okay if you are struggling with multiple aspects of a subject, teachers are there to help you!
